Now that we know one Kingdom Hearts game is being revealed at E3, the next step is trying to guess what it is. If a post from Jiminy Cricket’s new voice actor is anything to go by, it could be something called Kingdom Hearts: Recoded.

A post on the official website of Phil Snyder, who took over as Jiminy Cricket’s voice actor from the late Eddie Carroll, says the following:

On May 19th Phil took over as the voice of Jiminy Cricket for Disney Character Voices. The first project was “Kingdom Hearts Recoded.” Kingdom Hearts is an ongoing video game series produced in partnership with Japanese publisher Square Enix, who are best known for the Final Fantasy series.

There’s also a photo there showing Snyder at work, so since he’s already started laying down his lines for the game it’s presumably not in the beginning stages of development anymore. Jiminy Cricket doesn’t appear in Birth By Sleep, so that rules out the possibility that Recoded is just Birth By Sleep‘s western name.

Back in late 2008, Square Enix released an episodic mobile phone game called Kingdom Hearts: Coded. It never saw a release outside Japan. Could this be a remake of that game? Jiminy Cricket does appear in Coded after all.
