mgspw-boxart-us-wipMetal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is set to come out next week in Japan. You might want to hold off on importing though, or at least leave some money behind for the Western releases. According to Hideo Kojima, one scene had to be cut from the game’s Japanese version.

Although he didn’t exactly detail which scene had to be cut, Kojima revealed via Twitter that in order to get a C (15 years) rating from the Japanese Computer Entertainment Rating Organization (CERO), “a certain scene” had to be taken out.

Kojima further lamented that the scene is a standard element that’s “absolutely necessary for MGS” and that in a game full of anti-war and anti-nuke themes, one bloody scene had to be seized upon by the ratings board.

The good news here — for those not in Japan, at least — is that the American and European releases remain untouched. Even with the removal of one scene, Kojima emphasized that the Japanese version’s “feel” hasn’t changed.
