About a few days ago, Konami unveiled new details for the latest in their Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) franchise, dubbed PES 2008. Among other details disclosed for this release were the new Teamvision AI system, and its expected multiplatform release for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, and PC (Windows).

We’ll be coming back today with a quick update on Konami’s plans for the game, which includes a simultaneous release of the game on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Alongside this announcement is the company’s explanation on the new numbering system they’re now using.

“Switching from PES 6‘s numbered title to a year with PES 2008 will help casual gamers to identify the latest version,” said Konami’s (UK) Jon Murphy during an interview. “We’re striving to improve quality and hope this will have an impact on sales, and building on a loyal fanbase which should strengthen the release.”

Mr. Murphy further indicated that more details are being readied for release in the near future.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is currently scheduled for an autumn release.
