Major Nelson Tries to Explain Marketplace Delays

PreyAfter much bickering and whining from the gaming community because of expected demos like Prey and unknown release dates for XBLA games like Street Fighter II, Major Nelson finally tried to explain why release dates keep missing the mark. Basically, releasing something for the PC is much simpler than having your content approved for the Xbox Live Marketplace. There are many departments and processes that the Marketplace and Arcade content pass through before the content becomes available to gamers everywhere, and Major Nelson only knows about such releases once they are “locked, loaded and on [their] way to the Marketplace.” People promising content by a certain date usually aren’t fully aware of all the steps it takes for Marketplace approval, and because of this release dates are often missed. In the mean time, keep checking back here for all of your Xbox 360 updates, and although you might be bummed if a demo is late, whining won’t make it come any sooner.
