Normally, three popped balloons will send you out of the fight. However, the newest issue of Nintendo Power magazine notes that you can still join the race even if you have lost those balloons.

That means you can still fight and cause mayhem until time runs out – but according to the report, you won’t cause any damage. Reports also say that your team will lose a point each time your balloon-less car gets hit by other players in the race.
