Metal Gear Solid 4 in-depth interview video

With the small details of the gameplay demo of Konami‘s Metal Gear Solid 4 being a bit much to take in at the time – we were all too busy gawking at how good the game looked and played – here’s an in-depth interview to get those vital bits of info to sink in, courtesy of Kojima Productions Assistant Producer Ryan Payton.

In the video, we find out more about Old Snake’s high-tech gadgets he’s bringing into the fray, namely the OctoCamo and the Solid Eye. The OctoCamo, as we’ve seen from the demo, is an adaptive camouflage that ‘paints’ Snake’s sneaking suit with the pattern, color, or texture of whatever surface he’s in contact with. It appears that it goes all the way up to his head, courtesy of a mask he can put on at a moment’s notice.

Also, near the tail end of the video, the million-yen question is finally answered – yes, it is the end of Snake’s story in Metal Gear Solid, and everything will be concluded in Metal Gear Solid 4. However, it’s also to note that they didn’t say it’s not the END of the series itself. So maybe (just maybe) it’s Snake’s part in the story that’s finished, and there will be a new hero to focus on. Here’s hoping, anyway.
