According to him, the conversion of the first game, Metro 2033 (developed only for the PC and Xbox 360) would have taken 4A-Games six whole months to convert to the PS3. As that is too long a time, the only obvious solution is to begin work on a sequel.

He also said that the problem of conversion wasn’t only the time-frame, but that there weren’t as much PS3 coders to begin with, as compared to PC and Xbox 360 coders. That’s why it only took 19 days for the Xbox 360 game to be ported to the PC.

Metro 2034 was officially announced yesterday by THQ core games boss Danny Bilson, although he did not say for what platforms it will come or when it will be released.

That information will come out sooner or later anyway.
