Michael Denny: network interaction and network sociability is the key

Michael Denny: network interaction and network sociability is the key - Image 1In the three-day DevStation developer conference that was conducted in London, the vice-president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Michael Denny made it clear that network interaction and sociability would be key in Sony’s plans. Now while this may come as no surprise, the fact that they are taking a different approach to networking their console should be recognized.

Denny spoke about the PS3 saying that “It’s a platform that will define social networking.” The network will allow publisher and developers to host their own content unlike the system currently being used by Microsoft. It’s a bit open-source in a way, and to be honest, we’re rather intrigued at how this will pan out.

Denny further clarified his statement on this by saying that “There’s space for everyone within Home and we truly believe it’s the future of network interaction and network sociability. When we say it’s inclusive, we mean that in terms of other developers and publishers, as well as consumers.” All told, it seems that this open approach seeks to call support for more developers and publishers with the additional freedom they are being granted. Not a bad plan if we do say so ourselves.

Of course, he didn’t leave it at that, as he also gave a few details on the new content they plan on releasing for Motorstorm, and even some interesting factoids on the most popular avatars. To read more on this, you can click on our read link.
