Microsoft confident of 2007, ready for continued lead in 2008

Microsoft's Peter Moore - corporate VP of Interactive Entertainment - Image 1According to an official press release Q&A by Microsoft‘s own PressPass, corporate VP Peter Moore said that Microsoft is exactly where it wants to be: at the lead. Enjoying an early launch start, the Xbox 360 has gained an immense lead against competition, and Microsoft is confident that 2007 is already won.

With Bungie’s highly anticipated Halo 3 title premiering this year on Microsoft’s next-gen console, owners of the Xbox 360 are sure to be occupied for the rest of the year. Other titles such as Guitar Hero II and Dance Dance Revolution titles are already tapping into the non-gamer bracket, and Viva Pinata is also attracting the fairer gender to the console.

But perhaps the biggest boast of the Xbox 360 is the recent release of the Xbox 360 Elite, which sets the Xbox 360 back into the “black silhouette” mood. NPD sales also marked a monthly sales of approximately 200,000 units sold just recently in March, not forgetting to mention the impressive 5.7 game sold per console figure.

Moore concluded his press statement, saying, “With our strong portfolio of games and industry-leading services like Xbox LIVE and Marketplace, weÂ’re excited to say weÂ’re still on track to hit our target of profitability in [financial year 2008].”
