Microsoft debunks XBLA GoldenEye 007 rumor once again

GoldenEye 007 Rare - Image 1Gamers were resigned to the fact that Rare Ltd.’s GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64 will not be available for the Xbox Live Arcade, after reading all the reports about  Nintendo and Microsoft not being able to reach an agreement over the game’s rights. However, an article from Xbox World 360 magazine stirred many a gamer’s hopes about XBLA GoldenEye once again, only to be debunked by Microsoft. More details in the full article.

GoldenEye 007 Rare - Image 1GoldenEye 007 fans, take heed: if you managed to read something on Xbox World 360 magazine that raised your hopes up about a possible Xbox Live Arcade release of the game, then better get ready to get your hearts broken…well, for now at least. Microsoft Game Studios just recently announced that “the story in Xbox World 360 is based entirely on rumour and speculation.”

Those who are in the know are familiar with the current situation between Nintendo and Microsoft concerning Rare Ltd.’s GoldenEye 007 game adaptation, with some accounts going so far as to speculate that the problems rooted from Nintendo and Microsoft not being able to reach a deal favorable to both parties.

In any case, there will always be a possibility that Nintendo and Microsoft would reach a mutual agreement over the game’s licensing rights. But until then, we wouldn’t see GoldenEye for sometime over at XBLA.
