The company is sending out a press wire that reveals more details for their upcoming Family Timer feature for the Xbox 360 console. For starters, Family Timer will give parents the option to set the feature on either a per-day, or per-week basis.

Family Timer will also give players a warning just before your time expires, and the console automatically shuts down – you’ll want to wrap up your Halo 3 multiplayer session before that happens. Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division president Robbie Bach has this to say regarding this upcoming feature:

As a leader in interactive entertainment, itÂ’s MicrosoftÂ’s responsibility to provide parents with tools they can use to manage their childrenÂ’s video gaming and online experiences, and we have made that a priority from the very start.

Microsoft further confirmed that Family Timer will be downloadable via Xbox Live by this  early December. Check back when new information for this topic is announced.
