Microsoft on Xbox 360 Blu-ray report: of course not

Someone finally got on the line with Microsoft about that reported Blu-ray add-on that X-bit Labs reported on yesterday. Not surprisingly, they denied the report, saying that they (still) have no plans on introducing a Blu-ray player.

Someone finally got on the line with Microsoft about that reported Blu-ray add-on that X-bit Labs reported on yesterday.

Not surprisingly, they denied the report, saying that they (still) have no plans on introducing a Blu-ray player:

As we’ve said before, Microsoft has no plans to introduce an Xbox 360 Blu-ray add-on.

Games are what drive consumers to purchase game consoles, and we remain focused on providing the largest library of blockbuster games available.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I still say they could benefit from introducing one.

Considering that Microsoft’s usual response when confronted with a rumor is “we don’t comment on rumors,” I’ll take their word for it. Especially since they didn’t take their press conference at TGS to announce it.
