Microsoft to refund erroneous tax charges

Dear Major Nelson... - Image 1

Microsoft has realized that some users have been incorrectly charge for tax while engaging in microtransactions over their Xbox Live Service. They’re going to give refunds back to those concerned – better make sure to update your personal information on Xbox.com, so that the refund is deposited correctly.

Please, don’t feel nervous about giving Microsoft your personal info, if the recent reports from New Zealand are to be considered, Microsoft would rather halt a police investigation than give away your personal info. Of course, just be wary of the occasional scam. Major Nelson cautions:

Regardless, the good news is you don’t have to do anything… just sit back and wait for that credit to hit your account. As usual, we will never ask for your private information in an email, so while this is legit; be wary of other emails that ask for your personal information.

Remember, they never ask for your info, you give it to them at their site. If you get an email asking for your info, it’s probably a scam.
