Xbox 360 fresh from the pack - Image 1Microsoft would rather keep us in the dark regarding Xbox 360 failure rates, but they’re pretty sensitive about the disc scratching issue. Many complain that 360 consoles easily scratch game discs, but MS blames the users and claims that systematic issues aren’t causing this problem.

European Commissioner for Consumers Meglena Kuneva wanted to hear Microsoft on how they would resolve reported hardware problems, and MS did not hesitate to respond.

Not too long ago, Microsoft stated that faulty units may indeed be the cause of disc scratching. They even offered replacement discs, but now they’re saying that it’s actually “improper use” giving gamers a pain.

“If used properly, Xbox 360 consoles do not damage discs… there is no single root cause or systemic issue with any of the Xbox 360 consoles,” Microsoft told Kuneva.
