Modded Wiis for easy controller access

It’s not exactly the prettiest, but it’s definitely one of the more functional mods we’ve seen for Nintendo’s cute little console. Tired of having to reach around his console to plug his GameCube controllers in, Hollowfreak did what any self-respecting modder would do: he made the GC controller ports face the front.

As you can see from the above two pictures, he’s actually modded his Wii to accommodate the controllers on the front of the console rather than on the back. It may have doubled the size of the console, but you certainly can’t doubt its usefulness, especially if you’re a big guy.

Now, some of you may think it’s not that pretty anymore, or that the Wii isn’t very Wii-ish now, as a result of its increased size. We think it’s actually kind of cool, and the size makes it actually look like a souped-up GameCube now, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. For now, feel free to check out the link, as there are a ton other screenshots featuring the actual building process.
