Monster Hunter Portable 2 preview

Monster Hunter Freedom 2 is the working title for Monster Hunter Portable 2 (PSP). Might confuse you folks, but if it’s on the PSP, you can immediately recognize that it’s the sequel to the phenomenal Monster Hunter Freedom on the same platform but themed after the PS2 sequel.

Like the original title, Monster Hunter Portable 2 boasts of features that give us larger than life environments and creatures taking advantage of the PSP’s wide-angle screen and sharp texture capabilities. In this upcoming release though, there’s more focus on winter and desert landscapes, doubly hairier and more stupendous creatures, and familiar visual effects derived from the PS2 sequel.

We like the fact that groups can play via WiFi connection, but then again, it’s kind of sad to know that Capcom hasn’t made online game play possible for Monster Hunter Portable 2nd. But there goes the online download feature as a consolation, where anyone can get the maps by the time the game is launched.

Monster Hunter Portable 2 is slated for a February 2007 release in Japan.
