Moore Speaks Out About E3 and Sony

MooreIn a two part video interview, Microsoft‘s Peter Moore gets down to brass tacks with Euro Gamer about what he thinks about Sony, the aftermath of E3 and where the industry is headed overall in the near future. While Moore gives credit where it is due, he also criticizes Sony for being shortsighted and lacking real innovation in certain areas, specifically their new controller, it’s out dated motion sensing technology and lack of force feedback.

Moore’s gloating in the interview about the 360’s current installed user base and his confident prediction of it reaching 10 million before years end could come back to haunt him however. He certainly deserves credit for giving such a lengthy but focused and open interview without the help of his two buddies and their usual marketing tactics. Still, when it came to the topic of Microsoft’s painfully lacking presence in the east, Moore seemed to continue with the same tired excuses made more palatable by promises of changes to come. One thing is certain, Microsoft will continue to pour money into the Asian market despite the fact that they are still faced with the same obstacles to success.

Microsoft has made a conscious decision to focus on Moore as the face of their gaming division and Moore seems to relish the challenge. While he acknowledged that it is difficult to listen to people calling him names on forums and other public places he recognized it as part of the job. Moore explained near the end of the interview that he only wants people to keep an open mind and judge the company based upon what they say they are going to deliver and then what they actually deliver. No more no less.
