More details on Killzone 2
The guys over at Guerrilla Games wowed us with the Killzone 2 trailer that they showcased in the recently concluded E3 in Santa Monica. This time, they’re filling us in on some key details in terms of the game’s features and storyline.
If you haven’t heard yet, Killzone 2 will be set in Helghan, the Helghast’s home planet. The ISA is striking back to take the fight right into the turf of the invaders where they are met with some nasty surprises. It turns out that the Helghast have the ability to manipulate the surroundings to turn the tides of battle.
The game will feature fully destructible environments so you can strike back at Mother Nature when she becomes a real drag. The advanced AI of the Helghast will mean that players will have to change and mix tactics if they want to stay alive. An online battle mode is also right there with all the favorite modes to select from.
In terms of graphics, Sony said that its subsidiary studio has done a remarkable job. The deferred rendering, high detail objects, multiple shadow effects and the studio-grade motion-blurring all combine to create the most realistic game world possible. In terms of audio, the developers promise that the game will support 7.1 surround sound quality so no single round fired and not one alien groan will be left unheard. This, the devs say, is due to the EDGE tools that they were using all throughout.
Weapons will feature a mix of old favorites and new ones. The M82-G and the StA-52 LA are still there to pump aliens full of lead just like old times, while newer armaments are still under wraps to give us all a nice surprise in the future.
Overall, it’s looking like Killzone 2 will give a lot of other FPS games out there a run for their money in the very least. Here’s hoping for a great experience by the time the game hits the shelves.
