More Guild Wars PvP tips: random arena stuff

One of the Paragon skillsRunning low on those much-needed Balthazar faction points? Well, if you’re one of those players from the hardcore RPG batch, you may want to try out Guild Wars random arena PvP battles. By participating in PvP battles, you get to practice your secret strategy, as well as people skills as you cooperate with random people.  Now, that’s something you’re going to need as you run through the course of the game, unless you intend to team up with henchies all the time.

Moreover, PvP lets you experiment with builds, so you can go beyond that nuker Elementalist build that you’ve been playing ever since Prophecies came out. Anyway, the Guild Wars team have some tips for you to make your first PvP experience a tad easier, so you might want to check these tips out.

  • Learn from new players. There’s a nugget of truth in this fact, harsh as it may sound. After all, new players show you that you should run away from Warriors, who are built for melee combat and deal a lot of damage; or avoid area damage spells and effects dealt by nukers or traps set by Rangers.
  • Call targets. Now, this one we can’t stress enough. Calling targets makes it easier for the entire team to zone in one character, killing it instantly. Other people might want to target Monks first, for obvious reasons, while others prefer “soft targets” such as Mesmers, as they have weak armor.
  • Communicate about yourself. It’s important to let your allies know your character’s build, or what skills are you bringing, like the Resurrection Signet, so you can plan your strategy before the game starts.

See? PvP isn’t that hard. Basically, team work is the key here, so better brush up on your chatting/team speak skills, as you’re going to use a lot of those.
