In a previous article, Sega dev Tohru Murayama explained some details about the new Quest Mode for Virtua Fighter 5. Now he gives details on the goals and rewards of Quest Mode. Goals are what we all play for, be it to get that elusive item or beat the unbeatable boss. For VF5, there are a number of goals to set eyes for so we probably won’t be bored.

Win a championship in a Tournament – Of course you’d want to own your opponents and get a shiny trophy. VF5 features two types of tourneys: those held in each arcade, and those held in special venues. Players can complete the Quest Mode via an Official Victory, though it doesn’t mean they’ve finished the game.

Don’t lose a match – The rivals can be found in the arcades and are smart enough to take you head on. They’re random but the AI gives you rivals that have the same level of skill as you do. The faster you beat through them, the faster you level up.

Collect Emblems – Emblems can be won from Tournaments in the game parlours. One of the prized emblems is a “doriyaki”, uhh… a Japanese bean-jam pancake.

Collect items – There are also “Soudatsusen” matches where players can battle from items like glasses, hairstyles, and clothes. There are also other means to get items: buy them from shops, win them at Tournaments, and getting them when you reach a certain rank.

Sound interesting enough? The wait is almost over as the game adorns stores next month.
