NBA Live 08 to get what NBA Live 07 lacked: brains

Electronic Arts NBA Live franchise hit the metaphorical fan when NBA Live 07 came out and many gamers found that the CPU players seemed to lack some direction. Upon finding that the game AI was awfully incomplete, fans got so frustrated at points that they decided to just address Electronic Arts directly.

Electronic Arts Sports is bringing back the NBA Live glory with NBA Live 08 - Image 1This time around, Electronic Arts is focusing on a better, improved game with – yep, you requested it – brains. The current 07 title never made it to the PlayStation 3, for possibly obvious reasons, and Electronic Arts shifted their manpower to bringing home NBA Live 08 to the depressed fanbase.

In an interview with IGN’s Jeff Haynes, NBA Live 08 producer Brian Ulrich decided it was high time the fans knew what Electronic Arts has planned for the future of the franchise. He revealed many new fixes, such as actual stadium environments (relative to the home state hosting the game), better ball trajectory, and new depth to AI strategy and thinking (team strategy vs. ball handler strategy).

We wanted to cover the whole interview here, but since there’s so much information from Ulrich’s context and words, we decided to let you hop right over to the four page interview and see what Electronic Arts is giving back to the basketball gamer. The game hasn’t been confirmed on any console yet, but it was hinted that NBA Live 08 will be coming to the PlayStation 3.

With that said, you could be sure to hear an official announcement for the Xbox 360, the Wii and the PC. Until then, everything is tentative.
