NeoPop GX – NeoGeo Pocket emulation arrives on Wii
NeoGeo Pocket emulation on the Wii and Gamecube is now a reality, thanks to homebrew developer Askot. The coder, known for introducing the first NES emulator on Nintendo’s next generation console, has been a driving force behind most of the Wii ports game console emulators, and today isn’t one to detract from legacy. This time, Askot picked up the NeoPop GX emulator and sifted in Wii support with successful results. More on NeoPop GX 20-06-2008 at the full story.

Straight from the BountySource community, we hear that a new version of NeoPop GX has received the capability to run on the Wii, and NeoPop GX, as of version 20-06-2008, is now executable on the Nintendo Wii. The NeoGeo Pocket emulator was updated by Askot of the TehSkeen community, though it was originally created by EkeEke of both communities.
Aside from Wii support, NeoPop GX 20-06-2008 also has improved in cosmetic functionality and code, according to Askot’s changelog:
- updated to devkitpror15
- added libfat support
- removed sdcard support
- former System Reboot option now separated in PSO/SD/TP reload
- added reboot console option
- added sort file method when selecting file
Now don’t cringe from the loss of SD card support – we know that that has been painstakingly added by EkeEke back in July 2007, but at least now you have an emulator capable of storing using libfat libraries.
Take care to course through the bundled documentation (try to run it on a non-Windows native text editor, like NotePad++) to know where to store and load your games and where to store the NEOPOPWI.DOL executable.
