Nerd alert: a Wiimote Power Glove

Yes folks... Wii on a power glove. - Image 1Yes folks... Wii on a power glove. - Image 2

Long, long ago, in the 20th century, Nintendo made a gimmicky controller known as the Power Glove. It didn’t work with a whole lot of games, but since it was a gimmick, that was probably expected and the Power Glove fell into obscurity.

Years later, Nintendo released a Wiimote for their Wii, which combined motion sensing technology with the same feeling of weird gimmick-ness, except it was intended for a long-term campaign. With the exception of television casualties, the Wiimote was generally well-received.

Now, some weeks after the release of the Wii, one man has taken it upon himself to become a god among Nintendo geeks by combining the gimmicky nature of two control schemes into one. Ladies and gents, it’s the Wiimote Power Glove.

It combines the very “stylish” nature of the NES Power Glove with the features of the Wiimote, letting you wear the controller and actually use it without many problems. The maker (whose name we can’t seem to find) also managed to rewire portions of it, connecting some of the button presses onto the tips of his thumb and middle finger, and he uses those two buttons to perform more of the standard button presses needed for the games. Definitely no flying Wiimotes with this set-up, it seems.

In any case, we’ll leave you with a video of the Wiimote Power Glove in action and some parting words. To paraphrase Mike Myers’ “Wayne’s World” persona, “Wii’re not worthy! Wii’re not worthy!”

Thanks to Badam for the tip!
