New and FREE content for Gears of War

Geoff Keighley of Gamehead was doing backstage interviews during Spike TV‘s Video Game Awards. So he interviewed Cliff Bleszinski of Epic Games after they received one of their awards. CliffyB announced that we’re getting downloadable content for Gears of War. They didn’t say much else, but a couple things were sure:

  • Epic Games will continue to support Gears of War. By the way, Epic started working on this downloadable content way before Gears of War launched – because they’re Epic Games and they’re known for supporting their customers.
  • The content will be free. Unlike other game companies out there, Epic Games will not make you pay to get a new level or whatever this content might be.

What a great way for Epic Games to celebrate their awards, don’t you think? After all, they did win the Studio of the Year award, and Gears of War got the Best Shooter, Best Graphics, and Best Multiplayer Game awards. Four awards isn’t a bad count.

The interview at Spike TV: to watch the interview yourself, just head over to the Spike TV website where they have clips from the Video Game Awards. To watch the Gears of War bit, head over to the “Air Force backstage” section and click on “Gears of War.” And I was never really sure – did Cliffy really say “What’s up bitches?” Yeah. I think he did. Still, there are worse things in life than to be Cliffy’s GoW bitch.

And the good news just keeps coming. Gears of War has exceeded 2 million copies sold worldwide

Finally, here’s a video uploaded by antifanboy – because the Spike TV vid takes a while to load, and because we’re happy for Epic Games and we’re willing to waste 50 seconds of our lives watching Dom act stupid…
