New MGS Digital Graphic Novel: Metal Gear Solid Bande Dessinee

Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic NovelWe know that most videogames don’t just stay as videogames. They branch out into toys, figurines, comic books, animated series, and if they’re popular enough, they get ported to the silver screen as well.

Metal Gear Solid is one example of a game that has transcended the gaming universe, and Hideo Kojima has a new treat for all MGS fans: a digital graphic novel. What exactly is it? Take a graphic novel, patch it with animation, and you get a one of a kind experience. Yep, we’re talking about eye-candy at its finest. But its not just superb graphics. It tackles the game’s original storyline, so if you’re asking just how Metal Gear Solid it is, well, you got your answer.

It’s called the “Metal Gear Solid Bande Dessinee,” and it’s for the PSP. It features three modes: the VR Simulation mode, the Mental Search mode and the Memory Building Simulation mode. The VR simulation mode is the animated graphic novel in all its glory, while the Memory Building Mode lets users go in an in-depth exploration of the story. The Mental Search mode, on the other hand, lets the user scan “over 300 points of interest,” in case you want to backtrack on a scene or two.

The makers understand that you’d just want to go over the bande desinee again and again, so they have provided unlockables for those who can’t get enough of the superb visuals. And what’s more interesting is that this is the first of its kind, so it’s definitely something to look out for. The Asian (Japanese) version is now available for 29 USD.
