New SCEE president Andrew House: Wii owners will “upgrade” to PS3

Andrew House - Image 1Not long after John Koller said that Nintendo DS owners grow up and go for the PSP, David Reeves‘ successor and newly-appointed SCEE president Andrew House makes a similar remark, saying that Wii owners will eventually “upgrade” to the PS3. Is this some kind of unofficial Sony campaign? Wouldn’t put it past Sony.

According to House, Wii owners will eventually seek out a console with better and more advanced features – the PS3. “I think weÂ’re going to see this later on PS3, and the fact that itÂ’s a Blu-ray player as well and that thereÂ’s a [greater] wealth of network based experiences than are perhaps available on the device they already have will add to the proposition,” he said, adding that the PS3 life cycle could “significantly exceed ten years.”

No doubt that the PS3 packs more power than the Wii, and some Wii owners may want to “upgrade” at some point. As early as now, the PS3 seems to be making some ground with the post-E3 weekend boosting its sales.
