New Wii ad makes rounds in UK magazines

Wii Retro Gamer ad

I spy with my little eye, something white and gray. It’s really large, but really simple, too.
And yeah, it’s got a VERY large word emblazoned on it. Talk about in-your-face advertising.

Give up? It’s the new Wii magazine ad, seen in the latest issue of UK’s “Retro Gamer“. Errr… I guess having a guessing game won’t really work, since I got the picture here in its full-size glory. Anyway, it seems that the Wii ads are making some rounds lately. If you can recall, we featured the Japanese Wii TV spot a couple of days ago, an Australian ad a couple of weeks back, and now we have this magazine scan all the way from Europe. Hmmm…it sure seems that we can expect to be bombarded by Wii ads in the days to come.

Or not. Interestingly, Wii ads are a far cry from the usual “oh-so-bright-and-sunny” Japanese pop art that we’ve been accustomed to. These ads are more minimalistic in design: just pure, unadulterated ads that silently scream “Wii”. Paradoxical, isn’t it?

But these ads sure get the message across. According to Martoo, who posted this in the NeoGAF forums, this ad is “like a punch in the face, or a kiss from a hot chick. I’m not sure which, but it certainly gets your attention regardless.” How about you, what do you think?
