A press release from Apple saw a dark cloud hover over the Mac community. It was announced that the next Macworld Expo this January will be the company’s last one. The PR explains:
Apple is reaching more people in more ways than ever before, so like many companies, trade shows have become a very minor part of how Apple reaches its customers.
The increasing popularity of Apple’s Retail Stores, which more than 3.5 million people visit every week, and the Apple.com website enable Apple to directly reach more than a hundred million customers around the world in innovative new ways.
The next and final Macworld will be held at the San Francisco Moscone Center from January 5-9. The PR also announced that Steve Jobs will not be presenting the event’s keynote speech. This might have caused a dip in Apple’s market shares recently, as worries over Jobs’ health is causing concern over the company’s future.
