Nintendo DS 2D Hardware Tutorial Part 1

2dwinnerIf you’ve always wanted to create 2D Nintendo DS homebrew but you don’t know how (and you’re probably afraid to ask), then a Nintendo DS 2D Hardware tutorial from LiraNuna might just convince you that there’s nothing to be afraid of. You’re pretty much in good hands as LiraNuna is the genius behind Tales of Dagur and Poke teh Bunny. If that’s not enough credentials, then perhaps I should mention that Tales of Dagur won the recently concluded NeoFlash Spring Coding Competition 2006.

LiraNuna is teaching 2D concepts over at EFNet in the #learn2d channel. If you’ve missed the first part of the tutorial, a transcript of the session has been logged. Master LiraNuna talks about basic tiles to advance compression techniques to the more advanced HBHlank effects.

As the tutorial is very informal, you’d have to weed out the useless stuff from the important ones. It shouldn’t be too difficult. Read on!
