So the analysts were right on the money as Nintendo once again took first (and second) place in hardware sales in October. What’s Nintendo’s take on it? George HarrisonNintendo of America Market Chief – talks about sales, shortages and competition in a recent interview.

Harrison starts off the interview with a confident take on hardware sales for the Wii and the DS saying that the numbers for October usually set the pace for sales in December. “If this is any indication, then we should do really well for the holidays.”

While Nintendo still expects shortages for the Wii this holiday season, Harrison says they have no intention of slowing down in marketing. Currently there are 1.8 million Wii consoles being shipped per month, and they decide how this number will change on a weekly basis.

Harrison expects a slowdown in sales in January, but he maintains that Nintendo isn’t worried about the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3 stealing their players away, explaining that the two seem to be competing “for the same customer,” of which Nintendo is independent of.
