Nintendo’s jolly good week in Japan
It sure was a jolly good week for Nintendo in Japan as it not only surges ahead to the top of best selling hardware this week, with the DS selling a total of 319, 866 units, it also topped the softwares charts.
The Wii comes in at second place with 108, 327 units sold. Sony‘s PS3, PSP and PS2 follows meekly in Ninty’s wake at 70,942 units, 48,962 and 37,730 units purchased, respectively.
Meanwhile, topping the software sales for the week is Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl, both still from Nintendo. New Super Mario Bros. also comes in at number 5, with Jump Ultimate Stars at number seven, all for the DS. Wii Sports lands at the ninth spot, falling three places from last week’s charts. And then, another Pokemon title, Battle Revolution for the Wii comes as a brand new entry at number ten.
Yep, they sure had a field day–er–week at Japan, eh? If this is any indication of the resurgence of Nintendo in the gaming consoles’ race, then we bet they’re sure gonna have a very happy new year!
