One million Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition copies shipped says Capcom

Capcom announced today that it has successfully shipped a total of one million Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition copies worldwide making the Nintendo Wii game one of the most successful video games on the platform today. This brings the total sales for the Resident Evil video game franchise up to 33 million since it first came out back in 1996.

The Wii edition of Resident Evil 4 is actually remake of one originally released on Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2. The story revolves around Raccoon City incident survivor Leon Kennedy and his quest to rescue the president’s daughter Ashley Gramm. Other returning characters in this iteration include Ada Wong and Jack Krauser.

Capcom added that the success of Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition lies in the already installed fan base of the series. Aside from attracting former players, the use of motion-sensing controllers also provided a new dimension that made the new gamers curious about this title.
