Kojima Productions - Image 1We have more news coming in from the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots launch party. This time, we’ve got the game’s assistant producer Ryan Payton and he just finished talking about all things related to the game and what the future may hold for the franchise.

Among the most interesting things he spoke of was how Metal Gear Online was going to progress from its Starter Pack stage. Payton likened the game to a “free taste” of the actual thing and said new content would flow in steadily.

“The idea is to call them expansion packs. We have different themes for each expansion pack,” he says. “Later on weÂ’re going to introduce some pretty exciting environments and characters that are going to be pretty hard to resist in terms of how cool they are.”

Aside from expansion packs for MGO, a new digital novel is said to be in the works. According to Payton, Konami will release one based on MGS2: Sons of Liberty via DVD in Japan and if the demand is there, it just might land in North America and Europe.

Lastly, Siliconera inquired if there was any truth behind rumors that MGS might get a remake for the Xbox Live Arcade. In response, Payton said:

Yeah, I saw that on the internet along with Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Ocelot or something. Both of those rumors are just rumors. They didnÂ’t originate from us, thatÂ’s for sure.
