Peekaboo looking for partners to license pole dancing game for Wii and mobile

The new game by Peekaboo Pole Dancing might feature this useful tool - Image 1For some people, a dance pole may conjure up sleazy images of strip clubs and gyrating women. Pole dancing, however, has recently caught on as a form of exercise, with both sexes using the pole as an exercise prop. That’s probably why the company known as Peekaboo Pole Dancing is seeking a partner to license a pole dancing game for the Nintendo Wii. More gyrations ensue in the full article after the jump.

Imagine playing a Wii game that asks you to do this - Image 1Okay, so the Nintendo Wii already has sports games galore and a cheerleading game, so why not a pole dancing game this time? The latter type of game is exactly what the company known as Peekaboo Pole Dancing has in mind. The purpose of the said game: exercise and fun, of course.

Simon Kay, Peekaboo Pole Dancing representative, sent MTV Multiplayer an e-mail message explaining the premise behind the game. Below is an excerpt of the message:

Peekaboo will be all about fun and fitness for a new generation. Peekaboo wants to make the fitness benefits of aerobic pole dancing accessible to millions of Wii users. The goal is to encourage men and women of all shapes and sizes to improve their pole dancing skills while having fun, toning up and burning calories. Ultimately Peekaboo and AT New Media want to do for pole dancing what ‘Guitar Hero‘ did for rock n roll!

Unfortunately, Kay didn’t disclose any details regarding pole peripherals, gameplay or the possible ESRB rating. He did say, however, that Peekaboo Pole Dancing is already talking with developers and publishers for the Wii version, though “they will still entertain other parties,” especially partners for the mobile version of the game.

Well, the art of pole dancing has reportedly caught on as a legitimate form of exercise for both sexes in recent times, deviating from its usual association with adult male entertainment. We’re curious to see how this works out. Oh, and Peekaboo said that the game probably won’t involve Carmen Electra.
