Peter Moore confident in EA Sports titles, hints at E3 showing

EA Sports - Image 1The comments made by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick about how 2K Sports titles are out-rating EA Sports games in reviews seem to have gotten to EA Sports boss Peter Moore. Peter blogged recently about how competitive their line-up is and he spoke of how franchises like NBA Live will put on a ground-breaking show when E3 2008 comes. More details in the full article.

Oeter Moore - Image 1Lately, we’ve heard Take-Two chief Strauss Zelnick talk about how 2K Sports titles are out-rating EA Sports games in reviews. The feisty remarks drew a lot of attention from fans and the media, and EA just might have issued an indirect response.

In his blog, EA Sports boss Peter Moore said that claims about their games earlier issued may not have been straight. He cited the following high points of his division during fiscal year 2007. Quoting Moore:

  • Four EA Sports titles get Sports Game of the Year nods by various outlets, including FIFA, NCAA Football, Madden, and NHL.  Of course NHL was consensus best in class, as I mentioned a few days ago.  Named sports game of the year by seven publications.  No one comes close to that.
  • Three EA Sports titles in the overall industry top 20.  It was a great year for videogames, and Madden was No. 1 in sports and No. 4 overall.
  •  Seven platinum titles (more than one million units sold).

He then talked about how EA Sports will show up at this year’s E3 with a bang, citing that the future for its titles “couldn’t be brighter.” He then pointed to the NBA Live franchise which he said “jumped 15 points in review scores a year ago”, and said EA’s basketball sim series will have ground-breaking features this season.

To conclude his article, Moore wrote that he and his team over at EA Sports are “never satisfied” and are constantly looking for ways to improve their craft. Here’s to a better performance for this year’s releases!
