PS3 Europe launch welcomed with open arms

Ray Maguire, managing director of Sony Computer Entertainment UK, had this to say to GamesIndustry.biz: “We have had an incredible positive response from our partners in UK retail.” Maguire also was quick to add the positive feedback on pre-orders and waiting customers.

Soon Sony will be able to sit down with their counterpart retailers in the UK and finalize their plans for a full-blown UK launch. Seeing as SCE thought most Europeans didn’t seem to mind the delay to start with, this initial reaction is probably a surprise to them.

Since the official announcement yesterday, Sony expects to ship one million units at launch day, to be sold side-by-side with around 30 titles for the platform. This unprecedented stock allocation, Maguire believes, could be the largest and most solid launch line up in the history of their business.

But for customers in the UK and the rest of Europe, what happens on March 23 will ultimately decide.
