PS3 film “Cinematic” features Andy Serkis and Heavenly Sword

Ninja Theory‘s Heavenly Sword will be released June this year, but this early, the developers behind the game believe that Heavenly Sword has the potential to become the first real big PlayStation 3 (PS3) title. Even British actor and director Andy Serkis himself believe this. In relation to this, Sony released a new short film for the console titled “Cinematic”.

As we all know, even before the PlayStation 3 was released in North America and Japan, one marketing strategy employed by Sony was coming up with rather eccentric short films and TV spots. However, this “Cinematic” one is quite different from all the rest as this short film is pretty much direct to the point.

“Cinematic” showcases the motion capture process used for making the video game Heavenly Sword. It shows how body and facial movements of real-life actors have been translated into the characters of the Heavenly Sword. Serkis, as you all know, is playing the part of King Bothan, aside from being the project’s dramatic director.

Heavenly Sword features a girl with only a few days to live. This girl then embarks on one final act of redemption against Smeagol the king and his invading army. Gameplay will focus heavily on martial arts with emphasis on both melee and long ranged weapons.
