Well, theoretically, the PS3 is getting a “price cut” in the sense that you can purchase a unit for cheaper. Waaay, cheaper. Sony‘s offering a deal: “Get a new PlayStation 3 system for as low as US$ 250*!” Whew – that’s like… Nintendo Wii cheap! Definitely a steal, yes? But you’d have to read the fine print. It is banal to dismiss asterisk signs, especially in deals.

This deal is actually more of a promotional campaign for the PlayStation Credit Card, rather than a permanent price cut. As announced a few weeks ago, the PlayStation Credit Card will be ushering a PS3 discount for the rest of the year, thus giving everyone that temporary US$ 150 discount.

There are three ways to start your journey with the Plastic of Unlimited Glory/Bankruptcy. If you’re taking that plunge to the land of no return, you can apply for a PlayStation Credit Card via Sony.com, SonyRewards.com, or and Sony Style store. (Or you can head to the source link below).

Good luck to all those applying for a PlayStation Credit Card!

* US$ 250: Reduced pricing based on purchase of PS3 at the $399 MSRP, does not include tax or shipping and handling fees.
