PS3 sales up 300%, expect shortage
This news complements the numbers that came out yesterday, showing Sony‘s PS3 Slim selling a million units in the mere three weeks it’s been out. Jack Tretton, SCEA‘s Chief Exec, revealed that they are now “up about 300 percent over” where they were before the price drop, in terms of PS3 sales.

Of course, it wasn’t only the introduction of the PS3 Slim to the market that provided a major boost to the brand, it was also largely in part to the US$ 100 price cut. But will they be able to sustain this momentum, especially with the nearing holiday rush?
“In a very difficult economy, I couldn’t be more optimistic about our fortunes for the rest of the year and for the future,” he said. He did concede too, however, that “If things continue at this pace, it is conceivable that there will be product shortages.”
We’re fully expecting that, actually.
