While the whole world eagerly awaits the September launch of the PS3 Slim, Best Buy must’ve gone, “Why wait? Get it here now.” Readers out in Florida, better check your local retail shops right now, this one’s for real. The PS3 Slim is now up for sale.

Gizmodo Intern Rosa actually went to the Best Buy at Port Richley and managed to get one. Gizmodo was also tipped off by a GameStop employee who noted that they have authorization from the higher ups to start selling the PS3 Slim today.

I work at one of the Best Buy’s in Tampa. We got a notice in our system yesterday that we were getting the PS3’s today and that there was no street date on them. No snafu here. Don’t know about other districts but we were told.by corporate we can sell them today.

So folks in Florida will have a good night’s sleep today, while store staff will have to brace themselves for customers tomorrow. Won’t hurt to check our local retailers, they might be doing the same.
