Capcom‘s upcoming action title Bionic Commando (PC, Xbox 360, PS3) is looking to treat both its host consoles fairly with the same feature set. Proof of this is the recent revelation that the PS3 version will have a Trophies system much like the Xbox 360’s Achievements scheme.

Both can be unlocked by players by accomplishing feats that require skill in the game. Killing a set number of enemies, performing grappling hook-powered zip-kicks, and things of the sort are all in the menu.

Setting up achievements and Trophies gives players incentives for sharpening their abilities. It also deepens replay value by unlocking skills along with bragging rights.

Bionic Commando is a sequel to the 1987 original which was later popularized on the NES home console. This installment happens a decade after the events of the original and has protagonist Nathan Spencer reprising his role as the hero of Ascension City. Early indications have been fuzzy as to whether the game will be a sandbox type of game or an action title guided by more linear objectives. We’ll update you for more.
