PSP Hexen, PSP Heretic, PSP Doom v2.01 – better framerate, bugfix

Sony PSP homebrew developer kgsws is back with update 2.01 of his Hexen, Heretic, and Doom ports for the PSP. Added in this version are helpful PSP-oriented options and improved frame rates to make the overall experience that much more enjoyable than the previous version. This is gory fun at its finest!

If you liked Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew coder kgsws‘ work on porting classic FPS titles Doom, Heretic, and Hexen to the handheld, you’ll be thrilled to know that a new update is up and available for download. It improves the frame rate of Hexen, adds some PSP dialogs, and more.

As a lot of you long-time gamers may know, this trio of shooters came out in the mid- to late 90s and thrilled us all with gory fun. These games paved the way for today’s most competitive game genre, and it would be great if you can try them out to fill up on your gaming history.

In any case, here are the changes for the PSP’s Doom, Hexen, and Heretic version 2.01:

• Remade start menu from debug font to graphic mode, added some PSP Dialog functions. (save/load, AdHoc connect)
• Hexen/Heretic: now it is not using SDL, heretic now has better frame rate, but Hexen is same.
• Doom: fixed bug with dead player color.
