Homebrew coder Samy Pesse has released 2DEarth Demo, a teaser of a homebrew game engine that let’s you create your own map and characters using Lua OOP (Object-oriented programming).

The concept of the demo according to the dev is to direct a character that can cursor through its added elements on the card and climb mountains, ect. But the game is primarily a game engine and management of advanced animation and maps coded in lua OOP (Object-oriented programming), the code is quite simple to understand and the dev says that he have not used metatble. You can add your characters by copying sprites of characters (in RpgMaker XP) in the file: data / characters /. You can also make your own map in create a map. The dev suggest to view intro.map file to understand how it works.

For the control scheme:

X: a file on the map
L: change element
Direction buttons to direct the personal
Pad: move the cursor
Tip: do not touch a square or triangle, because its down your mana
