PTR closed for transfers – the implications
Yes, the PTR has already been closed to character transfers. What could this mean for players of Blizzard‘s World of Warcraft? Some have conjectured that Patch 2.1 is coming soon. Could this be true?
Now, an article on WoW insider gave three points defending this stand. The first is the said closure, second is the upcoming maintenance (which while scheduled, is the perfect time to implement such a patch), and third is the authentication problem. Given their statements, we’d be inclined to go with their hypothesis. However, it should be noted that these coincidences could actually be just that, coincidences.
If we were to base the release date on how Blizzard used to release patches, then we can be assured that it’ll take a few more days. When PTRs are shut down, there is some time between the patch actually goes up. In addition, the patch downloader should be downloading when we log in (which isn’t happening). Still hope-springs eternal and we’re hoping for the release of the patch. Come on Blizz, hurry up with it already!
