PvP Objectives in World of Warcraft: Why do it?

I was reading an article on WoW Insider and found a very interesting one regarding PvP Quests and why no one seemed to be doing it. Well, here’s a little QJ take on the same topic.

I have to agree that adding the PvP objectives in World of Warcraft is great, in theory. The thing is, the developers didn’t take into account the fact that a battlefield (filled with DOT happy warlocks and backstabbing rogues) is a really crazy and hectic place where completing a quest can be neigh impossible.

Take for instance the generic “getting from point A to point B” quest. In normal PvE game terms this can be simple even with a couple of mobs thrown in. However, when you have to deal with two or three Level 70 characters in succession, then it becomes a problem.

How about the simple quest of collect (insert generic item here). Sure, I’d do that, if I wasn’t busy killing the guy who’s been trying to get from “point A to point B.” It’s not that the quests are bad per-se, it’s just that it gets in the way of the fun part of being in PvP, which is killing, helping someone kill, or if you’re the social type, group killing.

How do we get people to do the quests? A few suggestions have been thrown around the number one consensus is: make the rewards worth it. I, for one, am not wading through a group of trigger-happy mages to get some weak reward. Make the rewards something we can be proud off, a glittering cloak or maybe just an in-game badge that says “I survived, therefore I am 1337.” That said, we hope that more players would throw in their suggestions in making this aspect of PvP more viable.
