First up on Ubisoft’s demo plate was Splinter Cell: Conviction. A speaker got up and a trailer for the game was shown, then a man from Ubisoft — the creator I presume — stepped up and explained how the game had evolved.
The story of the game so far is that Sam Fisher’s daughter was killed in a hit, and — you guessed it — time for REVENGE. So he goes out to find out what happens.
Starting off the demo, you see a man get smashed into a urinal in a bathroom that seems to have a prison-type background. Not so much accurate. Following up, he proceeds to beat the shit out of him for information (interrogation skills much?).
Zooming off you see Sam at the sidewalk moving to a giant building which he was told the “Killer” was at. This is where the game then took off. You see Sam Fisher walking along, and when he is detected he moves on to the side, hangs off the side of the ledge and proceeds to move to the left while holding on. He then repeats an old classic move from Chaos Tomorrow during the Lighthouse Map — GRAB HIM AND THROW HIM OFF THE LEDGE.
Continuing along he infiltrates the house and disposes of everyone quickly. Apparently Sam now has the powers of Spider-Man as he moves around the house and the ceiling and has the reflexes of an aimbotting hacker. The demo which was supposedly targeted to last 10 minutes was over in about 2-3 minutes. It was all so fast, non-stop action and shooting.
Eventually at the end helicopters break out of nowhere and blow up the ceiling where soldiers then rappell down on ropes and tell Fisher to stop. That’s where the demo ended.
