Xbox 360 Elite orders being taken in Europe despite Microsoft’s silence on pricing

Xbox 360 elite - Image 1Despite the lack of announcements coming from Microsoft‘s camp regarding the Xbox 360 Elite’s pricing, retailers are already taking in pre-orders for the buffed-up system at a GBP 329.99 retail price.

Microsoft representatives have made it clear that “there’s nothing to announce yet,” despite a hint from UK‘s Xbox 360 marketing boss Steve McGill when he was quoted saying “if you compare it to the price difference between Xbox 360 Elite and Premium in the US, you wouldn’t be far off.”

The black-bodied Xbox 360 Elite went on sale in American stores earlier this year carrying a bigger hard drive and HDMI functionality. The Premium Xbox 360 bundle sells for roughly 82 percent of the Elite. If you apply the same thing to European prices, the console should sell in theory at GBP 336.

Asked where stores like GAME and Okay might have gotten their ideas on how to price their units, a Microsoft spokesperson said that it was probably leaked information from somewhere else outside the continent. We’ll keep you updated on how the Xbox 360 Elite’s Euro launch goes.
