The Fourth of July weekend is over; we’re hoping you guys had fun celebrating over the past couple of days. Well, the summer heat’s getting to the most of us and setting some fireworks ablaze but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun while we’re at it.

Over the weekend, we had a bit of our own little parade: marching down the star-spangled blog avenues are our Weekend Warriors. And to recap all of that – for all you general informationists, as commenter zster21 coined last weekend – we bring in QuickJump QuickPeek 54!

Are your mousewheels oiled up? Time to get scrolling!

Weekend Warriors: PSP - PS3 - Image 2

Sony‘s in a sneaky mood again: we found yet another trademark for a touchscreen handheld – another clue to the mysterious PSP phone. Capcom too is getting rather sly – what with their Devil May Cry listing for the PSP.

Now with Dark AleX and Team M33’s release of CFW 4.01 M33 (latest update, btw: the second experimental version for PSPStates), a couple of the homebrew developers seem to be in a race to update their homebrew projects to support the latest custom firmware. Updates for some of the more popular homebrew have been released by the more active devs, including those for CXMB, PSP Filer, Wolfenstein 3D, and much more.

Now you see it, now you don’t! A busy week for the PS3 camp saw the release of PS3 FW 2.4, which includes in-game XMB. Unfortunately, it had to be pulled out due to reports of glitches.

Despite the disappearing act of the much awaited firmware, a lot of devs have been talked about including (or not including) trophies for their games, what with the new trophy features of FW 2.4. Firmware news aside, we also hear from PSN big wigs that Home is shaping up well, as is the movie download service.

Weekend Warriors: Xbox 360 - Nintendo Wii - Image 1Good news! Well, that’s if the continuing rumors turn out to be true. Coincidence, may be, but we’ve been hearing from more than one or two sources about that Xbox 360 price cut. (It’s already confirmed for Australia though!)

Get your blades polished, happiness also comes in the form of Voldo Ivy, with SoulCalibur hitting XBLA last Wednesday. Not-so-good-news though is that Burnout Paradise‘s Cagney Update for the 360 seems to have been delayed. Oh poo.

Ah, best news of the week? An update on Sadness! That game’s starting to catch a lot of attention. But meanwhile, we got some sequels coming: Boogie Superstar, Cooking Mama World Kitchen, and Rock Band 2!

The Wiibrew scene is also getting quite a lot of updates too – no surprise there. Drawing an imprint is WiiPhysics with even more updates to make this impressive app that much more stable, while Homebrew Browser – something that allows you to directly download homebrew straight from your Wii system, and not via PC – has gotten some updates too.

Weekend Warriors: DS - PC - Image 1

Le gasp. Square Enix has just confirmed Chrono Trigger for the DS! It’s looking much like a direct port (with Wi-Fi support too, of course), but who’s complaining? And oh! Don’t forget Disgaea DS and a new Tales game too!

Weekend Warriors: DS - PC - Image 2Diablo 3 is making rounds all over – talk about a show-stopping announcement from Blizzard! And then, Microsoft hints that they just might start focusing on Xbox 360 releases first before PC – hey, what gives?

Weekend Warriors: MMORPG - World of Warcraft - Image 1

The MMORPG Warriors are at it again, with updates, patches, and intriguing developments. On the general MMO front, we got some screens for DC Universe Online. No, don’t confuse it with MK vs DC!

RuneScape has had quite a dose of updates, what with their RuneScape HD facelift. EVE Online, LotRO, and Age of Conan have gotten patch notes published too – better check those to see how the new patches are coming.

Speaking of Age of Conan, all you players out there in Hyboria (recent sales figures show about 700,000 subscribers!) must note that the scheduling for rolling out patch updates has changed. As for World of Warcraft, players in Azeroth would be getting quite a treat – the Wrath of the Lich King opt-in beta!

Weekend Warriors: Science - Apple - Image 2Life on Earth is fragile indeed. Aside from global warming, there’s a lot of more interstellar threats like cosmic rays (just like Fantastic Four) and… meteors! Dun-dun-dunnn! So grab your towel, and prepare to hitchhike!

Weekend Warriors: Science - Apple - Image 1Macophiles! Time for a system update! Apple’s release Mac OS X 10.5.4! And if you’re still on the fence with buying an Air, the SSD MacBook Air’s getting quite a pricecut: all US$ 500’s worth of a slash off!

In a world of misleading screenshots… what’s a gamer to do?!

Sometimes, screenshots can be a tad bit confusing. For example, a riot happened over a DC Universe Online article when someone mistook the MMORPG screens for that of the upcoming Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. *wink wink* But that’s another matter entirely – a case of “Oops, I spoke too soon” by the commenter.

Well, all’s fair in love and war, so let’s put that aside now (stop flaming, guys! and really, he deserved the 5 stars!).

For Comment of the Week, we find a rare treat. Actually, it isn’t so much of one singular comment, but an entire thread of them. We’ll have to post the entire conversation, just so you understand the humor, and the notorious screenshot in question.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy - Image 1

This conversation follows an article on Dissidia: Final Fantasy where the above screenshot was shown. What with the character roster not being confirmed and all, people can’t help but let speculation run wild. Utter hilarity ensues.

Everything started with a simple and innocent question posed by akadewboy, and compounded by wazzim and joshbarty1. However, ultimately, it’s p0op that takes the Comment of the Week cake. Check it out:
