Rein: UT3 PC demo coming, no pre-release demo for PS3

In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Mark Rein of Epic Games revealed that a PC demo for Unreal Tournament 3 is in the works. Gamers will not be getting a demo for the game’s PlayStation 3 version, however.

Rein explained that the situation was reminiscent of how Epic Games handled Gears of War last year. “What we told Microsoft last year – they wanted a demo for Gears of War and we said ‘you’ve got a choice – you can have the demo this year or the game this year’,” said Rein.

Epic games is currently putting all their energy into testing the full game for the PS3, hence the lack of a pre-release demo. Things are easier in the PC front, however, and Eurogamer notes that the PC demo will be something of a beta and player feedback will be used to tweak the game further.

Both the PC and PS3 versions of Unreal Tournament 3 will be released this year. An Xbox 360 version is scheduled for a 2008 release.
