Roper justifies Hellgate: London’s Elite subscription… still
Bill Roper is still up and about justifying the subscriptions for Flagship Studios‘ Hellgate: London, saying that they’re not ripping people off.
Much of the fans were disillusioned with the announcement that the game will have an Elite subscription feature, which will basically be the gamers’ gateway to Hellgate heaven (i.e. housing and founding of guilds capabilities, additional mode games, VIP-shuttles to remote areas, etc.).
Says Roper, “We wanted to have the best of both worlds: to give people the free experience they’re expecting, because this is from the Diablo team, but at the same time to provide continuing content.”
To further drive the point that the Elite subscription is not there to rip people off, he explained that it is for the maintenance of the live team who are responsible for game updates and community interaction.
So, are you guys convinced yet? Anyway, there’s no need to worry, because Hellgate: London is playable either as free or as per subscription.
